Information for Patients

The following information will help you prepare for your appointment and scaning procedures. Women should always inform their physician and x-ray technologist if there is any possibility that they are pregnant, since some imaging tests are not performed during pregnancy.

Before Mammogram Procedure
  • No fasting or sedation is required before the procedure.
  • If you are pregnant or suspect that you may be pregnant, you should notify your health care provider.
How to Prepare for MRI
  • No fasting or sedation is required before the procedure.
  • You can't wear anything metallic during MRI examination, such as watches, jewelry or anything made from metal.
Before Bone Density Scan
  • You should not take calcium supplements for at least 24 hours before your exam
Before CT Scan
  • For an injection of contrast, it may be necessary to stop certain medicines before the procedure.
Prepare for Pregnancy Ultrasound
  • Please let us know if you have any allergies or adverse reactions to medications.
  • You should drink 32 ounces of water one hour before your scheduled ultrasound in order to get a clear image of the fetus.
Before NCV Test
  • Tell your doctor if you have a cardiac defibrillator or pacemaker.
  • Special steps will be taken before the test if you have one of these devices.
